Cane and Able to Cry

Despite playing a cruel patriarch, Isaacs is famously protective of his younger co-stars, even if his method acting occasionally caused a bit of chaos. During his very first scene in The Chamber of Secrets, Isaacs improvised smacking Tom Felton’s hand with his heavy, snake-headed cane. He accidentally hit Felton for real, moving the young actor to actual tears. Isaacs immediately broke character to apologize profusely, but a professional Felton sniffled and said it was great for the scene. In another aggressive scene, Isaacs accidentally shoved Daniel Radcliffe too hard. As soon as the director yelled cut, the cameras captured Isaacs instantly melting out of character to gently pat Radcliffe and apologize.
